2018 Canadian Rafting Championships
Saturday September 22.
The City of Ottawa will be the location of the first day of the Canadian Rafting Championships.
There will be two separate locations for the event. Competitors will be expected to travel between locations for the events.
Event Site Number One: 8AM Registration
Registration will be on site at Ottawa City Rafting's Britannia Yacht Club Operations Base starting at 8AM. The Yacht Club is located at 2777 Cassels Street, Ottawa, ON K2B 6N6.
Events will commence at 9AM
Race One: The Sprint Race: will be through Deschenes Rapids located adjacent to the Britannia Yacht Club. There is a well defined channel which competitors will want to stay within to achieve the quickest times possible. See image below.
Race Two: The Raft to Raft Race - elimination heats will also be at Deschenes,
Event Site Number Two: 1pm Registration
Registration will be on site at the Ottawa River Runners Pumphouse Clubhouse starting at 1PM. The Pumphouse is confusing to find it is located at Ottawa, ON K1R 0A7
Event will commence at 2Pm
Race Three: The Slalom: will be through the Pumphouse Rapids located adjacent to the Ottawa River Runners Clubhouse. See image below.
There are 4 categories with mens and womens teams in each category. Each team must have 6 team members plus an available substitute.
Race Categories are: Under19(U19), Under23(U23), Pro(Open), and 40+(Masters). Your team can only enter one category and all members must qualify for the age and gender brackets.
The winning teams in each category have the rights to call themselves Canadian Rafting Champions as per the category. Each winning team in a category also qualifies for the 2019 World Championships in Australia 2019.
